Financial Aid

Welcome to the Financial Aid webpages of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. The staff of the Office of Financial Aid is committed to examining the needs of each student and assisting with your educational financial plan. We are experienced, accessible, and friendly and look forward to helping you transition from being a Union applicant to a Union student.

Like all graduate study, theological education is costly. At Union, financial aid is an integral part of bringing quality students to the community. The Office of Financial Aid does not just process financial aid. Our staff helps make it possible for students for all walks of life to find their vocation. Sometimes that takes just a little help. Sometimes it requires a more significant commitment from Union – in time and paperwork, as well as funding. From convocation to graduation, financial aid at Union is a personal process, catering to a small population with diverse needs.

On the following pages, you will learn more about the types of financial aid Union offers. We look forward to working with you and encourage you to contact our office at 212-280-1343 or by email to financialaid@uts.columbia.edu with any financial aid questions.

Islamophobic and anti-Muslim public discourse centers on a number of common themes, including the ideas that Islam is not a religion, that Islam is opposed to democracy and diversity, and that Islam is inherently violent. These themes not only prompt diverse public responses; they also raise important questions about the manner in which we teach about Islam specifically and religion in general.
