Mon, 16 Sep, 2013 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Spirituality and Social Action in El SalvadorLatin@ Caucus presents: Spirituality and Social Action in El Salvador: A Conversation with Francisco Mena, the Director of CRISPAZ "Christians for Peace in El Salvador”

Last January, Union students were hosted by CRISPAZ during a trip to El Salvador with Professors Paul Knitter and Janet Walton.

Francisco Mena, who with his family was forced to flee El Salvador during the height of the Civil War, will give a history of the conflict in El Salvador, the involvement of the United States, and how Salvadorians have used their spirituality as the fuel to ignite social change. He will talk about the current political, social, economic and religious situation in El Salvador. He will speak specifically about the vital work that CRISPAZ does to help educate people at home and abroad about the El Salvadorian struggle ("la lucha"), and to facilitate bonds of solidarity.
