Anti-Jewish readings of the New Testament persist, despite many efforts by both Christian and Jewish scholars to offer more adequate ways of understanding the texts.
Union Theological Seminary is pleased to invite students, teachers, pastors and all interested in this topic from Union Theological Seminary, Jewish Theological Seminary, and other neighboring institutions, as well as the wider NYC region, for a conversation with Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University, an eminent scholar and one of the leading voices in New Testament studies. Among her numerous publications is her book, The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus. She is co-editor of the recently published The Jewish Annotated New Testament and editor of the 14-volume series, Feminist Companions to the New Testament and Early Christian Writings
