Biography
Bob is a development professional with a wealth of experience working in institutions of higher education. He has provided leadership for high-profile capital campaigns, with oversight of major gift, annual fund, planned giving, research and alumni/ae relations departments, as well as experience with capital campaign strategic planning and implementation.
He comes to Union Theological Seminary most recently from the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Senior Associate Director for Development & Alumni Relations in the New York Office. His work included portfolio management of 225 top-tier donors in the New York region for Penn’s $3.5 billion capital campaign for its four undergraduate colleges and 12 graduate schools. His accomplishments included numerous successful solicitations for endowed scholarship and internship funds, capital projects, faculty support, international aid and the annual fund. He also worked effectively to identify, vet and solicit several new members for boards of overseers at Penn.
Prior to his role at the University of Pennsylvania, Bob served as an Associate Director in the Office of Development at Vassar College, where he provided strategic leadership support for a $400 million capital campaign. While there, Bob successfully closed major gifts for endowed and term funds in support of financial aid, internships, visiting professorships, and capital projects, as well as project-driven initiatives. He worked closely with senior leadership and faculty to build the College’s national donor base. Bob’s professional background also includes 11 years in New York City government, college and law firm settings.
He has a B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law. He is married with an eight year-old son and lives in Beacon, New York.
