Inauguration of Daisy Machado Union's Professor of Church HistoryFebruary 4, 2009
The faculty and the Board of Trustees of Union Theological Seminary take great pleasure in inviting you to attend the inauguration of Dr. Daisy L. Machado as Professor of Church History, on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. in James Memorial Chapel. Professor Machado's inaugural address will focus on the "Expanding the Borders of the Historical Enterprise: Religious History for the 21st Century." The ceremony will be followed by a reception. A public symposium will be held on the afternoon of the inauguration titled, "Unheard Voices, Forgotten Cries: The Challenge of Invisible Communities for the Historical and Theological Enterprise." Professors Samuel Cruz, David Daniels III, Ada María Isasi-Díaz, and Julia M. Speller will join Prof. Machado to address the meaning of invisible communities and voices for the historical and theological work that must be done in 21st Century seminaries and theological schools.
